Top SaaS PE Deals From H1 💸 

In this week’s newsletter, we are highlighting some of the top SaaS PE deals that happened in H1 (January - June) 👇 👇

April 2021; Thoma Bravo's $12.3 billion purchase of Proofpoint

• In late April Thoma Bravo announced that it was acquiring security software vendor, Proofpoint. Prior to the Proofpoint acquisition, the largest software acquisition by a private equity firm was the $11 billion purchase of Ultimate Software in 2019.

June 2021; KKR and Clayton Dubilier & Rice's $5.3 billion purchase of enterprise data provider Cloudera

• In early June, KKR and CD&R agreed to buy Cloudera, an enterprise data cloud company. Cloudera, which was founded in 2008 by a group of Google by a group of Facebook and Yahoo engineers, was an early player in open source computing.

July 2021; Thoma Bravo $6.4 billion purchase of customer survey software provider Medallia

• Late last week it was announced that Thoma Bravo would take the customer survey software provider, Medallia, private in an all-cash deal valued at $6.4 billion. The Medallia deal, which is expected to close Q4, is the latest in a string of software acquisitions for Thoma Bravo in 2021.
